Expos Go 8-0 on Opening Day 2022!

The Encompass Expos opened the 2022 season with a program record of 8-0 on the day at the CIS Kickoff Classic Banner Bash in Des Moines, IA. The 9U, 10U, 11U, and 13U teams are participating in the tournament. See below for recaps!


9U:

Game 1 Expos 9U - 14 Nevers Larkin-Robins 10


Easton Eckenburg had 2 hits and two runs scored and Sam Lisi had two hits and two RBIs as the 9s hung on for a 5 inning win. Sam Lisi struck out 3 in one inning of relief and Eli Berrisford also K'd 3 to pick up the save. Expos pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts in the game.


Game 2 Expos 9U - 19 Indianola - 6

The Expos put up a 7 run 4th inning to pull away on 3 hits in a row by Lisi, Mason Luense, and Anders Oleksa. Congratulations to Sam Lisi on hitting his first ever over the fence homerun in the 2nd inning and for going 3 for 3 in the second game to lead the Expos with 5 hits on the day. Marco Gentillini picked up the win on the mound with a clean 1st inning while Eckenburg threw well in relief going 1 and 2/3 innings out of the pen.


The final pool play game is tomorrow at 10:00 am followed by bracket play starting at noon.


10U:

Game 1 Expos 10U - 15 Iowa Sticks - 6 *4 innings (8 run rule)


The Expos scored 15 runs over the first two innings. The offense was led by Kelso Johnson who smashed two doubles and Chase Kvitek who was 2-2 with a double. 6 different players scored 2 runs. Liam Sivert struck out 7 over the first 3 innings on the mound and Will Kemp struck out 2 in the final frame.


Game 2 Expos 10U - 17 Charger Baseball Club - 0 *3 innings (15 run rule)


Kelso Johnson was dominant, giving up only one hit and striking out 9 over 3 innings. Liam Sievert blasted his first homerun of the year in the 1st to give the Expos an early 3-0 lead. Every Expo scored a run in the contest with Nolan Anderson and Liam Sievert crossing home 3 times each.


The 10U Expos earned the #1 overall seed in their division and will play at 10am tomorrow looking for a win to advance to the Championship game at 2pm.


11U:

Game 1 Expos 11U- 20 Lil Devils- 2


Balanced scoring attack where every player scored. Lead by multiple hits by Jaxon Hardi, Mattson Rue, George Oleska, John Sundberg, Ezra Alhberg and Weston Deboer.

Easton Lahti pitched 3innings with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks. Followed by Mattson Rue and George Oleska to combine for a one hitter.


Game 2 Expos 11U- 8 Stingers - 0


Jaxon Hardi went 2-2. Game broke open with 6 run outburst in the bottom of the third inning. Game ended with a bases loaded walk off single by Mattson Rue.

Dane Linn went three scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Was relieved by Jordan Kangas who closed the door in the fourth. On the day the Expos gave up one hit and had zero defensive errors for well rounded defensive effort.


The 11U Expos earned the #1 overall seed in their division and will play at 10am tomorrow in bracket play.


13U:

Game 1 Encompass Expos 5 MN Mash National Black 2

Gavin Willeck went 2 Innings giving up 2 Hits, Striking Out 4. Alden Marsolek pitched two scoreless, Striking out 2. Bo Harriman picked up the win in relief.

Charlie Hayden had multiple hits, including a double and a stolen base. Gavin Willeck's bases clearing double in the 6th proved to be the difference in the contest.


Game 2 Encompass Expos 11 Modest Pride Red 0

Jace Rue, Jackson Peterson and Easton Grumdahl combined on a 1 hitter. Peterson led the way with 4 Ks over 2 innings of work. Jace Rue, Alden Marsolek, Bo Harriman and Jackson Peterson all had multiple hits, with Hayden and Peterson each driving in 3 runs in the contest.


Encompass Expos 13s secured the #1 Overall Seed in Pool Play, and will play their Semifinal matchup at Noon tomorrow with the winner advancing to the 2pm championship.
